Ski Haus recycles bike tires. Ride your bike often. Wear out your tires. Buy new tread at the 'Haus and recycle your old tires at the same time!
Ski Haus sends the old tires to a company in Denver where they create crumb rubber through a chopping and shredding process. Recycled rubber is resilient, inert, and non toxic which makes it ideal for a wide variety of applications, including landscaping mulch, playground cover, and horse arena footing.
To change and install tires,
Ski Haus, charges $7. This covers the fees paid to JaiTire to recycle the tires, shipping, and labor.
If you would like to change your tires at home and bring us your old tires. Ski Haus charges $1 per tire for the recycling service.
Here is one more way to conserve energy, reduce landfill pressure, reuse resources, and fight the good fight. Ride your bike often! |

Riding bikes is all about fun. But if your ride isn't spinning true, if your shocks aren't soaking up hits, if your chain sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard, if your drivetrain is ghost shifting night and day, you're not having fun and you won't be riding your bike.
The Ski Haus bike techs are at your service. From simple requests like "I don't know if my tire is flat or if it just doesn't have air in it," to major rebuilds and overhauls, our mechanics and repairs are reliable, timely, and friendly.
Shop Tips for the Long Haul:
Check your chain for stretch and wear. Replace your chain before it is worn out. Replacing your chain will reduce wear and tear on your front chainrings and rear cassette keeping your drivetrain in better shape, longer. This will also save you money down the road by not having to replace your entire drivetrain.
Lube your chain often and wipe off excess lube with gusto. When you lube your chain all you really want to lubricate are the pins inside the links. Lube riding on the outside of the chain is excess and will only attract dirt, grime, and nasty black stuff. Use a designed bike lube and wipe down the chain completely.
Purchase a floor pump for home. Riding with your tires underinflated slows you down and causes you to work or pedal harder. Keep your bike tires inflated to proper pressure and your riding will be easy. Proper pressure in your tires prevents pinch flats, too.
Rotate your road tires. Rear tires wear out faster than front tires. By rotating your tires once in awhile you will increase the tire's life and save you money in fresh tread.
Ski Haus New Bike Check-up. After your new bike purchase at Ski Haus, take advantage of the new bike checkover we offer. We really don't put a time limit on it because we want your bike to have some miles on it. If you bring it back to us for a checkover at 30 days but you only have 10 miles on it there won't be anything for us to check. Conversely, don't wait too long for your checkover, either. All we ask is for some miles on your new bike and some time for the break-in to have started.
Happy trails and happy tailwinds!
